World famous Tuscan towns such as SIENA, MONTEPULCIANO and FLORENCE are not far away- you can get the mainline train from Orvieto to Florence and be there in an hour on the `rapido` train
Similarly an unforgettable excursion to ROME is only an hour by train –you really wouldn`t want to drive into Rome and try to find parking!
PERUGIA is the capital of Umbria and is justly famous for it`s fine architecture and cultural heritage. Also renowned for it`s great art and summer jazz festivals…….not forgetting the fine `Baci` chocolate that is made here

No visit to the area would be complete without a trip to ASSISI – explore the town which is only just rebuilt from the earthquake some years ago. You will be amazed by the

SPOLETO is another typical medieval Umbrian town where you can enjoy the music, drama and dance parades of the `Festival dei Due Mondi` in the summer months

THE LAKES of TRASIMENO and BOLSENA – a great day out- swimming, windsurfing, sailing fishing, boat trips and simply walking or cycling around Italy`s two largest lakes- all in beautiful surroundings
If you fancy a trip to the sea ( approx 2 hours) you can drive to PROMOTORIO dell` ARGENTARIO. This lovely `island` is connected to the mainland by a road – you can visit the charming towns of PORTO ERCOLE and PORTO STEFANO. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the quaint waterside bars and restaurants or take a boat trip to nearby islands
